Spent the entire weekend prepping the side yard and managed to get it done. It took 8 cubic yards of soil (6 by dumptruck, much to Cohen's enjoyment) and 2 by pickup. The last two were to put usable soil on the bed closest to the house, where, under 6 inches of decayed bark was hardpan. So now there's at least 10" of good soil on each side. Jenn bought a ton of perennial plants which should fill in nicely next year. more details.
